My Little Wildflower

There are some children who arrive quietly, content to observe the world around them before deciding where they belong in it.

Maddie has never been one of those children.

From the moment she entered our lives on March 12, 2019, she did everything with her whole heart. She laughs loudly, loves fiercely, asks questions endlessly, and approaches every day as though it might contain the next great adventure. If there's something to climb, she'll climb it. If there's something to explore, she'll investigate it. If there's a rule she doesn't fully understand, she'll probably test it just to see why it exists.

She keeps us on our toes, and I wouldn't have it any other way.

Where Grayson often thinks things through, Maddie leaps first and figures out the details later. She is brave, stubborn, curious, imaginative, and wonderfully determined. She has a way of filling every room she enters, not because she's trying to be the center of attention, but because her excitement for life is simply impossible to ignore.

She also has her father wrapped completely around her finger.

Not that he'll ever admit it.

One of my favorite things to watch is the bond she shares with her brother. They're different in almost every way, yet somehow they fit together perfectly. Grayson is patient where Maddie is impulsive. He's cautious where she's fearless. More often than not, he's right behind her, making sure her latest adventure doesn't become a full-scale disaster. She keeps him laughing, he keeps her grounded, and together they make an incredible team.

Whether they're building Lego cities, watching Marvel movies, arguing over Star Wars characters, exploring the backyard, or turning an ordinary afternoon into something magical, they're rarely far apart.

Being Maddie's mother has been one of the greatest privileges of my life. She reminds me every day that the world is still full of wonder, that joy can be found in the smallest moments, and that sometimes the best adventures begin with a simple question:

"What happens if I try this?"

Most of the time, I find out right alongside her.
